Humour me and pretend you live in North America for a moment (unless you already do – in that case, give yourself a well deserved pat on the back). Ready? Okay. If you’ve picked up Cave Story on WiiWare, you may have noticed glitches in the sound, or just wished that other little things could have been improved. Well hit up the Wii Shop Channel because developer Nicalis has sensed your concerns and released an update to fix some issues.
In terms of sound, the remixed music has been improved so that the percussion beats are more audible, the title screen music now loops properly, and the volume of bouncing EXP chips has been toned down. The interface has also been addressed, with a cleaner menu screen, transparency in the Home menu and maps screen, plus typographical corrections. Finally, the Extra Modes are now unlockable instead of being available from the beginning, and there is also GameCube Controller support.
Nicalis promised the game would be out for us this year. At least we’ll receive the updated version from the get-go. Other than that, we can also look forward to the newly announced DSiWare release.
