After some not-so-subtle teasing on Twitter last week, it’s finally official — Castle Crashers is coming to Switch.

The Behemoth have officially announced today that after 10 years, Castle Crashers is finally making its first appearance on a Nintendo console when Castle Crashers Remastered launches on the Switch later this year. The indie classic first appeared on the Xbox 360 back in 2008, and has since received a port to PS3, Windows, macOS, Xbox One, and soon to be PS4 alongside its Switch release.

Castle Crashers Remastered brings with it a host of new features, including greatly improved textures, a silky-smooth 60fps frame rate, the utterly wonderful and bizarre Back Off Barbarian mini-game, and a tonne of performance and improvements to gameplay. This is on top of all previously released DLC, characters, weapons and animal orbs.

The Switch version of the game is being ported to the console by PlayEveryWare, who previously brought games like Garage, The Final Station, Hello Neighbor, and Pocket Rumble to the Switch. It’ll include a bunch of Switch-specific improvements, such as HD Rumble and 4-player single Joy-Con play, as well as online multiplayer for up to four players.

Castle Crashers Remastered is scheduled to launch in the US Summer of 2019, which is Winter for us south of the equator. You can watch the announcement trailer below, or click here to read the full blog post.
