Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata from Capcom has offered his opinions on SEGAs new hardcore title Madworld.

In an interview with Kotaku’s Brian Crecente, Kawata voiced his approval of the gory brawling game and was saddened to see his competitor’s product failing to sell well. "Personally I do like MadWorld, I think it is a very unique game. I think we should be happy to be able to play a game like this. Its kind of disappointing that it didnt sell."

Kawata made the comparison that his own Resident Evil franchise is a well-established name and that Madworld as a new IP was never going to have an easy time at retail- "Most if not all gamers know the Resident Evil name”. Kawata also discussed the future of hardcore content on the Wii, plugging Capcom’s own upcoming rail-shooter ‘Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles’ and his joy at seeing the Wii receive an exclusive prequel to Dead Space- his favourite game of 2008. Masachika Kawata was the head producer on both Resident Evil rail-gun games.
