Capcom speak on whats possible and whats not on WiiWare
Don’t expect to see the recently release Bionic Commando Rearmed on the WiiWare service, says Capcom. Apart from never fitting on the Wii (size wise), the game would have to be placed onto a disc, but things still wouldn’t work out. Chris Svensson, Corporate Officer, goes on to say that he is “”not sure the result would be completely satisfactory. I think you underestimate how technically advanced BCR is. It’s built on the same engine as the big BC is.”” How about the very recently released Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix? That’s out too. More inside “”It couldn’t ever be on WiiWare, even at 480p. File size is just too large given the storage restrictions for WiiWare. Theoretically, it could be disc based but there are no plans at the moment.”” says Svensson. So, are all of Capcom’s new games destined to skip Nintendo’s consoles? Well, not all of them, with Street Fighter 4 being named as a possibility. “”In theory, with reasonable downgrades in visual quality, including resolution, yes [game could be possible on Wii].”” However, Chris does raise the question about which input method would the game require? While everyone has a Nunchuck and Wii Remote at bare minimum, it wouldn’t be optimal to playo n that, and a classic or Gamecube controller would be needed. Perhaps a Classic Controller could be bundled, but we’ll have to be patient.
