Capcom chose to do another RE Chronicles game because…

Both Chronicles and RE4 sold well on the Wii, so why another Chronicles game over the RE4 style?

Despite being on two consoles before it and selling millions of copies, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition sold well on the Wii, enough to show enough interest for another title in a similar vein. Umbrella Chronicles sold well enough too but Capcom has chosen to do another rails shooter over a third person game because they believe they have more to give out of that franchise.

“Yes, naturally Resident Evil 4 on Wii was a huge success. Having said that, Umbrella Chronicles didn’t do badly either. However, we regretted the fact that all the scenarios, storyline were not included in that particular title, so therefore that was our regret and we wanted to work on a new title in the same style and we worked on Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica.” Masachika Kawata, chief producer of Darkside Chronicles has said in a new interview.

No one will knock back another Chronicles game, especially since Darkside is looking mighty fine. However another RE4 style game on the Wii? Wouldn’t say no to that.
