Its been along time coming for Nintendo fans wanting to get their hands on a fully-fledged Call of Duty experience on a Nintendo home console. The Wii version of the Call of Duty franchise were fairly good in their own right, but still lacked features and popularity compared to the other versions on their HD competitors consoles. Now with Nintendo flaunting the Wii U as catering to the hardcore gamers, and Activision keen to show off Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the Wii U, it should be all systems go right?
Well apparently not quite. Kotaku recently interviewed Activision regarding the free Call of Duty Elite service coming to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, asking if the same service was coming to the Wii U. This was the response they received:
“We are currently evaluating options for Call of Duty Elite to support Nintendo’s Wii U game system, however Call of Duty Elite for Call of Duty: Black Ops II will not support this platform when the game launches on November 13th.”
Activision have also said recently that they are “working with Nintendo” to bring season passes and DLC to the Wii U versions. Hopefully we’ll hear about this closer to November 30th and see if WiiU version of this much anticipated game has all the same features the other console versions do.
