Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is an upcoming 2D action platformer that was successfully Kickstarted by former Castlevania director Koji Igarashi all the way back in 2015. One of the stretch goals for the Kickstarter was an 8-bit-style mini-game for consoles and handhelds — a game that was announced today.

Inti Creates announced during BitSummit that Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will launch on the Switch and 3DS on the 24th of May. Taking strong influence from NES-era Castlevania games, Curse of the Moon is a classic retro action platformer featuring four playable characters that can be swapped out at any time during gameplay. As you play, you’ll unlock these characters, which will unlock new areas and secrets on further runs through the creepy castle. With multiple endings, tonnes of secrets, and lots of different paths to choose, it looks like there’s going to be heaps of replayability; perfect for those who want to pass the time until Ritual of the Night is finished.
