This week’s Big W catalogue features the new model of the Switch, the ‘red box’ version with longer battery life already dipping in price. We’ve had $399 Switch consoles here (albeit the original model) for a while, and the $429 that starts this Thursday is almost there again.
The price of the Switch has been somewhat of an anomaly in Australia. We’re the only market, that we know of, that’s had such steep discounting on the console.
The best you’ve been able to get in the likes of the UK and US is a $50 eShop voucher included or $10-$20 off here and there. Getting fifteen to twenty per cent off is the envy of the world.
So far this is the cheapest price for the new model of the Switch, EB Games is bundling it with two games at $469, JB Hi-Fi says the ‘new look packaging‘ one is $449 and others are going for that price too. The Gamesmen is calling the new model ‘2019‘ and has it for $469. Some stores are still trying to get rid of their original stock at $399.
Hopefully well before Christmas, the original model is completely gone so no one ends up with the outdated model.
