RPG powerhouse Bethesda has a Wii game in development, hoping to target the Mature market.

It seems not even the developers of Oblivion and Fallout 3 can ignore the Wii, with the company revealing it has a Wii title in the works. "We are going to make an announcement on a really big Wii game this year, we’ve got a couple of other things in the pipeline, and it’s a format we’re really looking at with the right approach," says Sean Brenna, director of Bethesda.

The title will be aimed at the “mature” market but the company won’t be establishing any new brands, declaring that "We’re not going to establish a new range and call it ’My Girly Game Range’ or whatever these other companies are doing, it’s so me-too and boring.”

Bethesda is following in the footsteps of Sega and EA which have risen to the task of attempting to capture a mature audience on the Wii. Bethesda believes that even if the game sells to a small percentage of the user-base, a small slice of 50 million is still a tasty piece of pie. "We have huge respect for the Nintendo platforms, and from a marketing perspective globally they’ve been phenomenal. It would be churlish to ignore that space”
