Basic 8GB White Wii U finally gets the chop in Japan

About time too.

While the western retail world has pretty much dumped it, the 8GB Basic Wii U bundle was still being sold in Japan – up until today that it is.

Nintendo has announced that the basic, white 8GB Wii U hardware configuration has been discontinued in the region. It likely means we won’t see the white 8GB unit here either again although they have been pretty much cleaned out for some time.

It’s unlikely but this move could also mean that the white 32GB model could be making its way outside of Japan having finally been rid of the 8GB stock. Would you be keen on a white premium model?
