Despite having produced some of the best games for Wii and DS, the Japanese developer has struggled to turn those games into financial success, having suffered losses of 256 million yen (about $2.6 million in Australian dollars). Whilst this doesn’t exactly spell the end for Cing, the bankruptcy filing does throw the future of their Hotel Dusk and Another Code franchises into limbo.
The studio were recently working on a sequel to their noir-inspired mystery adeventure game ‘Hotel Dusk: Room 215’. The sequel, tentatively titled ‘Last Window’ outside of Japan, should still be released some time this year through a publishing deal with Nintendo.
We’re very dissapointed to hear about Cing’s financial woes, as not only did they produce quality games, but they were games that really made the best of the opportunities provided by the unique controls enabled by the Wii and DS platforms.
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
Definitively done with the Wii U now.
But it's not for everyone yet.
