Balls, cards, a Key, a warrior and DLCweekly downloads
Hit up the Wii Shop Channel and DSi Shop for a new dose of WiiWare, DSiWare, and Virtual Console releases, plus Final Fantasy DLC
A fair old week this week with something for everyone, and something on every platform. Lets take a look. Hey TellTale where is Monkey Island Episode 2 by the way!
First up is Spaceball Revolution for WiiWare from Virtual Toys, at 800 Wii Points. The object of the game is to match a pattern displayed at the corner of the game screen with a grid of squares, where blasting squares can activate them, turning them white, or turn them off. There is a time limit involved and obstacles that will make it challenging over the course of 15 different levels. There are also head-to-head multiplayer battles as well as the ability to compare your score with others around the world.
2-in-1 Solitaire, at 200 DSi Points, brings to the DSi two of the most popular versions of the card game, Klondike and Spider. Klondike is the form of Solitaire we all know and love, and sees you arranging cards from Ace to King in piles, one for each suit, on the four foundations. You win when all cards have been moved to the foundations. The object of Spider is to arrange cards in piles of a single suit from King down to Ace. When all cards are removed, you win the game.
Solomon’s Key, at 500 Wii Points, is a 1986 arcade game by Tecmo, that was released on the NES a year later (the NES version is already on the Virtual Console). In this action/puzzle game, you control the wizard Dana and delve into a labyrinth to seek out a magical tome called Solomon’s Key, the item that will aid you in your quest to restore the world to light from demons that were accidentally released.
The object of the game, which also incorporates elements of the platform shooter genre, is to advance through the 50 rooms of Constellation Space by acquiring a key to the door that leads to the next room before a timer runs out. To do this, Dana needs to create and destroy blocks. Dana can run, jump, create, or destroy orange blocks next to him, as well as create fireballs to destroy demons.
Rygar, at 600 Wii Points, is another Arcade release from Tecmo. This 1986 side-scrolling action game puts you in the shoes of Rygar, a legendary warrior brought back to life by humans suffering at the hands of the resurrected ancient Beast Lord. Players must make use of Rygar’s trusty Disk Armour—a shield with a long chain attached to it—to get through the 27 stages of the hostile landscape. Mastering the rich set of attack and movement capabilities is key to progressing through later stages.
DLC time! Final Fantasy fans rejoice; look out for the final episode of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, named The Crystals. The world is on the verge of destruction, and the heroes meet at Baron Castle. What has become of the stolen Crystals, and what is the true nature of the Mysterious Girl? You’ll find out as you play through this huge concluding chapter.
What, more DLC? Finally, new items for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord are available. Increase your darklord’s wicked arsenal with A Fateful Clash, Gloomy Armband, Wailing Doll, and Kain. These are available for 200-500 Wii Points.
