Since the Balance Board was released in 2008 with Wii Fit, the peripheral has been used mostly in sport and exercise games. Well now it looks like the Balance Board will tread new ground, with the first ever horror game to have Balance Board support announced by Marvelous Entertainment in the latest issue of Famitsu. Ikenie no Yoru, roughly translated to Night of the Sacrifice, is about a group of five college students who accidentally attend an event where a sacrifice is made to a god, and must find a way out. How the Balance Board will be implemented is still a mystery, although we can confirm that, like pretty much every horror game on the Wii, the Wii Remote will be used as a flashlight-type light source.
Set for a March 24, 2011 release date in Japan, it is still unknown whether or not Ikenie no Yoru will receive an English release; however, the use of the oft-neglected Balance Board peripheral in a horror game has us interested.
