Trilogy is on its way to Australia, but will it be in the awesome special edition steelbook?

‘Metroid Prime Trilogy’- that’s all the Prime games on one disk is indeed on the way to Australia later this year (before Christmas), but exactly what version we’ll be getting is still up in the air.

Speaking with Kotaku, Nintendo Australia’s Managing Director Rose Lappin has revealed that   “[Metroid Prime Trilogy] is certainly coming. That looks fantastic. And it’s got a little… special item in the book. That’s definitely coming.” What’s exactly is this special item?  “Just a little something in the book, but we need people to wait for that.”

We hope she is referring to the very non-Nintendo like special edition packaging that America is getting which includes a steelbook case and an art book.

Stick a hideous OFLC logo on that we’ll be sweet

Metroid Prime Trilogy isn’t just a simple port, as the New Play Control versions of Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are included and that means the same controls as Metroid Prime 3 will be on the disk. This is a different release to what’s in Japan, who received Metroid Prime 1 and 2 separately and without any of the additions (apart from controls) that will be implemented for the trilogy.

You can access each game instalment from a unified main menu that ties together all three adventures. Through a new unlockables system, you will be able to gain access to in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games. The game will also be in widescreen, 480p and have increased visual effects in the older games.

So now, it’s just a question of when.
