Australian Club Nintendo will also offer digital games as rewards

Following in the footsteps of Nintendo Europe, Nintendo Australia & New Zealand have confirmed that digital games and content will soon be available for purchase on the Club Nintendo store.

Joining the ranks of limited soundtracks, controllers and other knickknacks, AU & NZ players will soon be able to spend their piles of Club Nintendo stars on digital copies of Virtual Console games and downloadable content packs.

A small set of titles has been announced so far, including Metroid Fusion, Advance Wars and DLC for Mario Kart 8, with Nintendo Australia promising more details in the near future.

Club Nintendo Digital titles

No official date has been given as to when the games will be purchasable on Australia’s Club Nintendo store, however we can’t imagine it will take too long. Club Nintendo’s days are numbered, after all.

Considering that the digital rewards should be available until the closure of Club Nintendo in September, I’ll be holding onto my points in the event that they offer any worthwhile physical rewards (more soundtracks, please!!!).

Who knows, with our store anything could happen. Wouldn’t put it past them to take down digital games.

I’m holding out for more soundtracks too 😀

They could, but that would not be a significant loss as we still have the option to buy them for a few dollars. We aren’t given the option to obtain the soundtracks by any other means except through Club Nintendo (or eBay), so they are worth a hell of a lot more. I’d happily buy them if given the option (though i’d prefer them on CD I don’t like paying full price for digital albums with 1/9th of the audio quality of a CD).

Remember when Vook told us to save our points and wait for something good… Well… I guess I’ll listen next time.

This sucks if you used your points on physical stuff like I did. All those stars wasted.

Glad I did not spend my stars on anything physical though when I last looked they had took down some of the stuff I was interested in anyway, I’ll pick up a Virtual Console game or two if I can!

Hopefully we hear more soon, I mean US/EU already got games up you would imagine we would see some this week but seems Club Nintendo AU/NZ side blows so who knows.

I really hope they are reasonable prices (like 1,000-3,000 stars depending on game). I’ve managed to save up over 16,000 stars and still have a few codes left to register, but I know how fast that will go if Nintendo decide to charge 5,000 for a game.
Regardless, this is what I’ve been hanging out for. The recently added mario and kirby OSTs are cool, but I never tend to listen to them. For me digital games, collectables or even eshop cards (which we never got) are far more rewarding.
