Australian Wii owners should have woken up today with their disc drives glowing blue, marking the arrival of the latest Wii system update. While there are no real noticeable changes from the update, the excitement comes with the accompanying message from Nintendo.

Continue reading for the message. “”Dear Customer, Nintendo would like to inform you that an updated version of the Wii Shop Channel is available. This update features support for the WiiWare download service planned for May 2008.””

Confirmation that Australia is getting WiiWare in May? Hopefully, although Nintendo Australia have still not given an official launch date. And for those of you thinking that maybe we just got the same message as America by accident, you would be wrong! Their update said ‘Spring’, not ‘May’. America gets the service on May 12, so it looks as though we might be getting it not long after.
