Aussies and Europeans can “Welcome a Friend” to Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Animal Crossing: New Leaf: Welcome a Friend promotion was announced for Europe in tonight’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

Players of Animal Crossing: New Leaf who have registered the game on their Club Nintendo accounts will receive a Recommendation Code that they can pass to a friend. If this friend buys a 3DS XL console and enters this Recommendation Code, they will be eligible to claim a free download code for Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Nintendo Australia have run a similar promotion where new buyers of standard 3DS consoles can claim a free download of one of a selection of games, including New Leaf, however 3DS XL purchasers here are not quite as lucky.

There has been no word on whether this promotion will come to Australia, but if it does, we’ll be sure to let you know!

Update: Nintendo Australia have confirmed the promotion will run in Australia and will start on August 15th when the all white 3DS XL hits stores. We’ll have more information about Australian specifics soon.
