Aussie Bargain Roundup – Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow 2DS Bundles
We normally wouldn’t do a bargain guide just for hardware but seeing as this one is a big one – well it requires a deeper look.
While there might not be any bargains for Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow on the eShop there are some deals going for the hardware..
No wait.. there’s not.
It’s retail price all around, worse still the stores that do have stock of the consoles are either getting them in such limited capacities or not even stocking them in physical stores. EB Games is out, JB Hi-Fi is out, Gamesmen is out, Mighty Ape is out, OzGameshop has stock but they’re charging an arm and a leg.
So that leaves Big W, they have it in their catalogue – we’re being told stores are only getting 1 or 2 units – or none. Target, same again but instead of creating a rush at stores they’re only stocking them online. Details on that below.
So if you haven’t pre-ordered – this one is going to need a Master Ball to catch.

Target actually listed them on their target ebay site yesterday and they sold out fast. Bet it was those ebay scalpers who snaged a bulk of them.
I know of a Big W store getting a single console of each edition, one red, one blue one yellow. What the hell?
This is so monumentally stupid.
These units are guaranteed to sell like hotcakes. Diehard fans will buy all three. Genwunners will pick one up on impulse given the relatively low price. Former gamers who no longer play video games as a hobby may be tempted to pick one up.
It’s a pretty lousy deal though, all things considered. The X/Y/OR/AS 2DS bundles offer far superior value (a bundled $60 game instead of a “$13” one). So it would be more sensible to buy one of those and just download the desired Gen I game from the eShop. Absolutely crazy that Nintendo are using black and white ROMs (referring to Blue and Red versions specifically) as a basis for selling a console in this day and age. I must admit though that those boxes are ridiculously pretty and even I’m slightly tempted to pick up all 3 despite having absolutely no use for them. =P
There are 2000 units in total allocated to Australia.
Each store approximately has 1 of each colour.
The Target online Ebay sale yesterday have already shipped, and there was 148 pokemon yellows sold and around 50 each of blue and red.
2000 units? Source of this info?
Got my Pikachu 2DS today at Big W. They only had two of each colour.
