Upgrade the cheapest way possible.
For the first time in known recorded history Australia will be receiving a new console before the rest of the western world. Sure Japan already got it but to get the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL months before America and Europe is really something special.
So should you buy one, make the plunge and upgrade your console? That’s not what this article is for, we’ll have our legendary Mega FAQ up soon to help you answer that question but aim of this guide is simply to get you a New 3DS or New 3DS XL as cheap as possible.
Things to remember for buying the New 3DS models.
– These new models do not come with a charger, you can buy one separate for a RRP of $14.95. If you already have a 3DS, 3DS XL or DSi or DSi XL you can use that charger instead. There is no way to charge one of these out of the box.
– If you’re going to transfer your old 3DS to this new model you’ll need a new Micro SD card of equivalent size to match your old one. You will also have to hang onto your old system, do the transfer then trade it in if you’re doing that.
– The cover plates only work on the New 3DS (smaller console), not the New 3DS XL.
As we get closer to release more stores will add bundles and deals in catalogues and sales. We’ll update as we go but if we’re missing one please let us know in the comments.
