Aussie 18+ Rating Petition largest in the country
EveryonePlays, PALGNs and GAMEs final tally is in and its great news
It’s official and certified now, the EveryonePlays, PALGN’s and GAME’s R18+ rating petition is the largest ’wet signature’ count in Australian history. The auditors at BDO have counted and recounted and 89,210 signatures were counted. More people in Australia would like to see an R18+ rating given to games than ever before. You can take a look at the official count here.
In fact, more people signed the R18+ petition than the November 2005 petition on WorkChoices. Despite this number the country’s censorship ministers still feel the issue needs “more consideration”.
So what’s the next step? Well the Standing Committee of Attorneys General are meeting on December 10 and the R18+ rating is on the agenda. Finger’s crossed.
