The Switch is no stranger to twin-stick shooters, with excellent titles like Neurovoider and Jydge both seeing success on Nintendo’s hybrid console, but now Bristol developer aPriori Digital is bringing a competitor to the table.
Aperion Cyberstorm is a chaotic and slick-looking twin-stick shooter bursting with neon vibes, and it’s headed to the Switch on February 8. It’s also releasing on the Wii U on the very same day, which is… certainly a rarity in 2018. Aperion Cyberstorm has been in development since 2013, and was originally slated to release on the Wii U, but after a switch (no pun intended) to the Unity game engine, and years of perfecting and polishing, the reportedly bug-free shooter is finally on its way.
It boasts a tonne of different ships, more special abilities than you could poke a stick at, and — perhaps most importantly — up to 5-player multiplayer for all game modes. You can read more about the game below, or skip to the bottom of the post to watch the trailer.
Exploding onto Nintendo Switch in a shower of screen-filling fracas’ for up to five players, Aperion Cyberstorm challenges pilots to fly through hundreds of maps across three game modes, combining dynamic abilities and elemental effects to brutal effect and endless variety. Whether playing alone or with friends, this co-op shooter will leave players breathless and wanting more – they will uncover a conspiracy in Campaign, survive waves of enemies in Onslaught and fight for the crown in Versus.
