Aonuma: Zelda Wii U should be ‘something new’ like Ocarina of Time was
We haven’t heard much about The Legend of Zelda Wii U for some time, but now an update thanks to the most recent issue of Famitsu Magazine and Eiji Aonuma.
He was asked about how the game was progressing, ‘busy’ was his reponse. The day of the interview he was working on the game’s in-game text.
“But, the game has really taken shape, and things have gotten easier. That means things are progressing well.”
So what about the game itself, what can we expect? The keyword this time is ‘something new’ says Aonuma in the article.
“I think the base of our secret sauce has always been Ocarina of Time. But this time, the change in flavor will be like going from Japanese food to Western style food. Perhaps, players will be surprised.”
“Please look forward to it, because I think we’ll be able to make ‘something new’ like Ocarina of Time was”
Nintendo has been using Ocarina of Time for a template for the 3D Zelda titles for some time, it’s nice to see they’re going for something different – whatever that might be.

Building up the hype for Wii U’s swansong…nice work! But if it does get released on NX then I’d probably get it for that (unless the Wii U gamepad mechanics are good)
