Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer launches on October 3rd with bundles, cover plates, amiibo cards
This October its going to be Animal Crossing crazy with the launch of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and a ton of accessories to go along with it.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is a new Animal Crossing experience where you join the Nook’s Home family business and go forth to make hundreds of your favourite animals happy by designing their dream home or garden. Eventually you’ll be redecorating a school or even a cafe.
If you pick up the game at launch there will be a limited number of copies of the game that come with one special amiibo card. The special amiibo cards unlock a character in the game that you can’t get unless you have the card.
Additional cards will be sold separately in booster packs of three for $4.95. You’re guaranteed one special card per packet, there are 100 cards to collect in series one. amiibo cards can be used on many games so you can collect and trade with your friends.
Now here’s where things get a little confusing as there’s multiple ways to buy the game, hardware bundles, bundles with the NFC reader you’ll need if you don’t have a New 3DS or New 3DS XL.
New Nintendo 3DS XL Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Edition
A white New Nintendo 3DS XL with an exclusive Animal Crossing design, a download code for the game and one special amiibo card. ($269.95)
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer + NFC Reader/Writer Pack: a physical copy of the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, one special amiibo card and the NFC Reader/Writer accessory (SRP AU$69.95)
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Standalone Game (SRP AU$59.95)
Standalone NFC Reader/ Writer accessory (SRP AU$29.95)
New Nintendo 3DS Cover Plates: one features K.K. Slider and the other features a variety of animals from the series (SRP AU$17.95 each)
Series 1 Animal Crossing amiibo cards Pack: each pack contains 1 special amiibo card and 2 regular amiibo cards (SRP AU$4.95)
Weirdly there’s also a New Nintendo 3DS + Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Pack on the way as well later in the year. It comes with the game and the amiibo card but also an exclusive set of Cover Plates. You will not be able to buy these in stores separately.
So then, October 3rd – what are you picking up?
Preordering the new console yay!
I already have the K.K. Slider faceplates…
As much as id like to collect all these, I worry how long series 1 runs for and how much it would cost me to get all 100?.. Hrmmm.
On the plus side, the game sounds a lot more interesting than what ive seen in videos.
5 bucks for three cards doesn’t seem like very good value to me…
I’ll consider buying the amiibo cards only if it is possible to buy the wholesale box (Pokemon cards are available for purchase in this manner from some sellers).
The product page on the EB Games website indicates that the $5 card packs will include 5 villager cards plus 1 special card (6 total). However, the thumbnail of the booster pack is the same as the one indicated here (3 villagers + 1 special). It’s a crap deal either way as you’ll need to spend well over $100 to access every card.
