Announced during the Japanese only Nintendo Direct Sunday evening was the release date for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

The game uses new ‘amiibo cards’ and will be released in Japan on July 30. As well as the game and cards the NFC reader slash writer (called amiibo station) will also be released on this date. There will be a bundle with the writer and the game or you can buy it on its own.

Of course if you have a New 3DS or New 3DS XL you don’t need the amiibo station as it is built into the console.

Each pack of cards will be ‘blind bags’, in other words if you’re trying to collection all of the Animal Crossing amiibo cards you’ll need to trade and swap to collect them all.

More Animal Crossing goodness will be out the same day as well with a new Nintendo 3DS XL model and a set of cover plates for the smaller New 3DS.

There’s no solid release date for any of the mentioned products outside of Japan yet.
