Another Nintendo Direct, another update about Animal Crossing 3DS. While the hotly anticipated title was only on display for a short amount of time, it provided some of the juiciest information of the conference.

To kick things off, we finally have an official name and release date. Sure, it’s not entirely relevant to our region, but it’s still a promising sign. A sign the game does in fact exist, and that people in Japan (and the odd few from other parts of the world) will be playing it by the end of this year.

So here it is – Animal Crossing: Tobidase Dōbutsu no Mori (translating to Animal Crossing: Jump Out). The title will be released in Japan on the 8th of November. The price? ¥4,800. So, that’ll probably equate to your left arm and leg, or first born child here in Australia.

Besides this information, Nintendo was nice enough to give us a peek at the Japanese box art and some completely new footage of the game.

The two minute plus clip includes some old friends and a display of more new features. It appears the angry mole Mr. Resetti will be making a return, along with Booker, who now has his own lost and found shop.

To accompany these familiar faces, the footage shows how the player is able to decide on shops they wish to construct, and also when the shops will open. In addition, fans will now be able to exchange designs via QR codes, and change the colour of furniture.

So there you have it, Animal Crossing 3DS with a name of some sort and a release date of some sort.  It’s great to see! And just one quick reality check to finish, Animal Crossing 3DS is currently scheduled for a 2013 release outside of Japan.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
