In a world first today, America gets something after everyone else as Nintendo of America announced the black Wii for the region. Not only that, but all Wii consoles now sold in America will come with not only Wii Sports but also Wii Sports Resort and a Wii MotionPlus. The pricing will remain the same at US$199.99.
"Nintendo leads the way in delivering rich motion-control gaming experiences at an accessible price point," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "By including even more of our top-quality hardware and software in the basic Wii system package, we’re extending that commitment to entertainment and value. Now more than ever, consumers can count on Nintendo to deliver inclusive fun and advanced motion controls at a mass-market price."
The Wii recently received a price drop in Australia of $100, now at $299.95, but we didn’t get the added bonus of Wii Sports Resort nor a Wii MotionPlus unit. This press release suggests that we (as in outside America) might expect the same bundle in the near future. If so, and you just bought a Wii in the last week, you’d have to be pretty annoyed.
And it looks Grand.
