Just like adult Wii games in Japan, adult 3DS games will be getting black boxes the first of which to be announced being Splinter Cell 3D

At the start of last year Nintendo announced that all Wii games rated CERO C (the equivalent of an M15+ rating over here ) and up would be getting a nice shiny black box, instead of the plain ol white one to differentiate it from kid-friendly games to help parents make educated choices about what games they buy their kids. And now with the release of the boxart for the upcoming Splinter Cell 3D it seems Nintendo will be bringing this black colour scheme to the 3DS.

As you can see, the boxes do look classier and do do a good job of differentiating the adult 3DS games from the family 3DS games. Its still unknown whether or not Australia or any other country in the world will be getting these black boxes, but we really dont think theyre necessary in Australia, what with our massive red MA15+ ratings boxes that take up a sizeable chunk of the boxart, especially on the small DS boxes.
