Additional characters omitted in NSMBW due to ability differences

Miyamoto spills the beans on why neither Wario nor Peach appeared as playable characters in New Super Mario Bros. Wii

New Mario Bros. let fans of the Mario brothers franchise to play as either Mario, Luigi or one of two Toads. Have you ever wondered why you were never given the choice to play as Wario, Waluigi or Peach? Shigeru Miyamoto has explained the conundrum in a recent interview with the Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu.

"With this game we wanted every character to play the same way," says Mr. Miyamoto. "The thing is that with Wario hed need to have a fart attack. Peach would have to be able to fly with her skirt, and so on."
