Ace Attorney 5 dated for Japan, gets demo and trailer

Hot off the heels of the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct, Iwata wasted no time in introducing the first game of the Nintendo Direct, Ace Attorney 5 (or Dual Destinies as it is known in the West.). Of course, he also managed to fashion himself in a similar mold to other Ace Attorney characters first.

While we weren’t able to grab too much from the trailer, we were able to see a brand new trailer for the game which introduced the new characters, including the new prosecutors that Phoenix and Apollo will be up against. In addition to this, several returning characters were confirmed to return in the trailer.

We also now know that Ace Attorney 5 will take place a year after the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, the fourth game in the series and will apparently feature “many” cases. The new assistant, Kizuki (Athena in the Western release), uses the heart scope to enable her Mood Matrix, which we previously explained in the announcement of the game. Interesting to note that the trailer also showed off the Psyche Lock and Bracelet Power from previous games, so we can expect to see them return too.

Iwata also confirmed that there will be a demo released on the eShop in Japan during June, while the game itself will be released on the 25th of July.

We will have a trailer up as soon as we can find one, so stay tuned!

As a stern reminder – these details apply to Japan only, but we’re hoping this is an indicator that we’ll be getting a demo too sometime in the near future. We’ll let you know, either way, as soon as we can.
