Tecmo Koei and Nintendo today announced, via Famitsu and translated by Gematsu that they are working together on a new Fatal Frame project for the Wii U.
For those not in the know, Fatal Frame (known as Project Zero in Australia and Europe) is a survival horror game where players must use an ancient camera to capture and defeat ghosts. The game rewards players who get the perfect shot of ghosts – which also is when they are most closest to the player.
There is currently no confirmed release date, nor is there any confirmed title for the project so it’s hard to tell what the new title will be about – whether it will be an all new title like the fourth game or a director’s cut remaster of one of the older games remains to be seen.
Tecmo Koei have also announced plans with other business partners to produce a live action film, comic book and novel to tie in with the series.
We really enjoyed Project Zero II: Wii Edition when it came out here previously, but we can only hope this game will be similar to that and not like Project Zero 4 and the 3DS “Spirit Camera” spin-off, both of which remain unreleased here.
It was also not clarified if Grasshopper Manufacture were assisting with the game like they did with the fourth one.
Do you think Fatal Frame for Wii U will be shown at E3? Or will Nintendo just release it in select regions like previous games in the series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
More games will be added on December 24th and December 30th.
