For Nintendo fans, 2006 was a big year. We saw the reinvention of Mario Bros on the DS, a new entry to the Star Fox saga, the latest and greatest Legend of Zelda instalment as well as unbelievable support from Square Enix, bringing along Final Fantasy and the Mana series. 2007 is already shaping up to be a year dedicated to fans with early releases such as Warioware: Smooth Moves, Excite Truck and the upcoming Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. So sit back, relax and take a look at a few of the titles we think will rock your year.

More Inside

Wii

In its first year the Wii will see some of the biggest titles in gaming history. The console launched with a bang thanks to the newest adventure in Hyrule, Twilight Princess. We saw unbelievable support from Ubisoft and over 20 titles that would fill up our holiday season. Here are just a few of the titles that we will be seeing throughout 2007.

WarioWare: Smooth Moves

Release Date: Out Now

What do you get when you throw frantic fun and hundreds of mini games together? Something like this colourful title I would presume. Warioware will make you move, shake, bounce, waggle and even run as you make a fool of yourself in front of your friends. Never fear though, this is a game that will have you in laughing fits for hours on end. A great start to 2007.

Excite Truck

Release Date: February 22nd

While considered a tech demo by some and already out in the US, theres no denying the buzz behind this game. The aim, race big damn trucks in the outback and finish the race with the most amount of stars. Supporting 2 players and an awesome control scheme that makes it feel like youre right in the drivers seat this is definitely a title to pick up late February.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Release Date: Q2/Q3

The threat of the toxic substance Phazon is back and trailing behind it is our favourite heroine, Samus Aran. In this third and final instalment to the Prime series Samus Aran has to hunt down her most feared rival, Dark Samus across several planets that have fallen ill to the effects of Phazon. Dump all this behind an epic struggle against the Federation and Space Pirates and you have one of the most atmospheric games to ever grace our silver screens. A new control scheme will breathe new life into this award winning series and rumours of a multiplayer mode will keep our appetites wet until its release.

Super Mario Galaxy

Release Date: Q3

At E3 2006 Mario Galaxy stole the show. Visually it blew people away but that wasnt the only surprise Nintendo had for this game. By using the Wiimote you can interact with the worlds around you in a way only possibly on the Wii. Mario has taken to the skies and is planet hopping across the galaxy in his newest adventure. While details of the game are still scarce and hopefully so until its release, one thing is certain and that is that Mario Galaxy will give us one of the most richest and unique experiences ever.

Super Smash Bros Brawl

Release Date: Q4

A few months ago if someone were to ask you what game was in your Gamecube, the answer would most likely have been Super Smash Bros. Melee. There is no denying the greatness of this series, whether youre a fan of the original or the sequel and Brawl promises to be no different. With a barrage of new characters, including Solid Snake from Metal Gear fame, as well as some familiar favourites including Pit from Kid Icarus and Wario, Brawl will undoubtedly fulfil every Nintendo fanboys dream. It gets even better; with a rumoured online mode and deeper one player mode this could possibly mark one of the best years in gaming.

The titles mentioned above are the key games for 2007. The ones we know that are going to make a splash and not sink like a rock. However this wouldnt be a worthwhile list unless we mentioned the other games to keep an eye out for this year.

Honourable Mentions:

Eledees
Release Date: April 11th

Formally known as Elebits, the little creatures that power everything around us have gotten loose and with the Wiimote you get to wreak havoc as you attempt to catch them all.

SSX Blur
Release Date: March 15th

From developer EA, SSX Blur is a Wii exclusive title that gives you more control over your tricks as you experience the full adrenaline rush of snowboarding.

Sonic and the Secret Rings
Release Date: March 1st

Can legendary developer SEGA bring Sonic back from video game mascot cemetery. His latest games have been far from impressive but so far things point to a rebirth of our favourite (and only) blue hedgehog.

Battalion Wars Wii
Release Date: Q2/Q3

Online play, hell yes. While the first BW on the Nintendo Gamecube was more of a sleeper release so to speak, the sequel promises a deeper single player, more vehicles and online play.

Mario Strikers Charged
Release Date: Q2/Q3

Yet another game that didnt get hot reviews but with new Wii controls and the addition of online play how can we possibly complain. He shoots and he scores.
