During this morning’s Smash Bros. video feature Nintendo confirmed that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U be getting 8-player Smash, a first in the series history.
This new mode lets eight players fight at the same time in local multiplayer only, no internet connection could ever hope to play 8-player Smash smoothly. The mode is exclusive to the Wii U version of the game and the size of stages is adjusted to fit the extra players.
So how are you going to control this? Well luckily also announced was a wealth of controller options. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U supports the GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, GameCube controller (with adapter), the Wii Remote by itself but also with the Nunchuck and the Classic Controller.
The Nintendo 3DS can also be a controller, you’ll need a copy of the 3DS version of the game to do this however. All control options are fully customizable.
