The 3DS is an amazing piece of technology, but it looks like that the technology it utilises could come at a cost: battery life. In a recent Q&A session with investors, Nintendo of Japan President Satoru Iwata regarding battery life said "it is inevitable that Nintendo 3DS will be a device which requires more frequent recharging than Nintendo DS." He further explained that Nintendo are including a designated battery charger in the form of a cradle. Iwata penned the idea that Nintendo should include a message for consumers saying something along the lines of "Please place your Nintendo 3DS on the cradle as soon as you return home with it."
So it sounds like the 3DS could have a battery life similar to that of Sony’s PSP. But hey, that’s the price you have to pay for the amazing technology that is ’glasses-free 3D’. But look at it like this: if Nintendo put a more powerful battery into the 3DS, the already high price of around $300-350 could be blown up a price level of $400-450.
But it's not for everyone yet.
Hands on events coming before launch.
