Kojima Productions podcast casts doubt upon the future of Metal Gear remake, may be entirely different game.

Courtesy of Nintendo Everything, we’ve learned that Kojima Productions is uncertain about the future of the E3 demo. Whilst the demo received good feedback, comments made in the podcast suggest that it may simply have been used to gauge the potential, both technologically and commercially, of another Metal Gear title for the system.

”…We can’t say one way or the other whether or not something like that will come out on the 3DS at this point…” podcast host, Sean Eyestone said. “But what we did show at E3 was a sample of what we could do with the 3DS”.

The outcomes of the demo’s showing were also discussed. Firstly the E3 reaction was positive, praise being directed at the lighting and shading effects. Kojima Productions are also interested in hearing comments about the demo, and these comments will influence how and if Metal Gear ultimately debuts on the 3DS. Additionally the rationale behind the name “Naked” was discussed, referring to both Naked Snake and the “naked eye 3D” of the 3DS.
