3DS anti-piracy measures are so sophisticated

We know that pirates only use one eye, but is that enough to stop them from playing, or illegally copying, 3DS games? Nintendo doesnt think so.

The DS has been plagued with piracy ever since its inception. Its still an uphill battle for Nintendo, developers, publishers and distributors as they have endured decreased resources resulting from lost sales of video games.

According to THQ executive vice president of global publishing Ian Curran, the 3DS is set to change all that. "[Nintendo] know theyve been hurt across the world and they believe the 3DS has got technology that can stop that," he says. That hurt has also been felt by THQ, with Curran citing piracy as making it "almost impossible to shift any significant volume" of software.

When Curran asked Nintendo to explain the anti-piracy technology, they said it was "very difficult to do so because its so sophisticated". Well frankly, Nintendo would be smart not to tell pirates how it works, right? So what do you think will make the 3DS so resistant to piracy attacks? An increased focus on digital distribution? Forced firmware updates? All we can hope for is any improvement over the DS.
