007: Agent Under Fire (Gamecube) Review

Overview: James Bond is the man to answer the call when the world is in need of a hero. This is the first Bond game on GameCube released, while 2 others have been released. In this Game you will be driving in these flash new BMWs with special features on the car like missiles and much more. There were a couple of nice Gadgets on the Nintendo 64 versions of Bond Games, but now there is even more like a Q-Claw and Q-Jet which are very useful. To get Medals, you have to get a certain amount of points which can be done by doing Bond Moves, Enemies Subdued, Ammo Efficiency, Weapon Accuracy, Damage Taken, Mission Duration, 007 Bonus and Difficulty.

Graphics: The Graphics are pretty good, but not quite top notch. The Character models look awesome, like realistic but Bond? He hardly even looks like him. The textures are nice, and the explosions in the game look great. The car models look really good, like it is actually realistic. The buildings and they environment around you look good, the backgrounds of the stages are alright too. The Weapons and Gadgets look real, even the bullets firing looks awesome.

Sound: The on this Game is pretty cool, real voices sounds nice. Like the quote, Bond, James Bond. This Game has the normal Bond tunes, like usual and also some cool new ones. The weapons sound like real bullets firing and also the gadgets like the Q-Claw connecting on to something like a wall. Even the explosions sound real you hear Bond in his flash BMW driving away shooting missiles which sound awesome.

Gameplay: The Gameplay on this Game is pretty good. I will first talk about the Controls of the Game then I will talk about the Modes in the Game. R is to Shoot your weapon (Also Punch when have no Gun in 1 player mode.), A is to reload your weapon and open doors. C Stick aims up/down/left/right, Z changes the mode of the gun, so it fires in a different way. L is to manually Aim up/down/left/right and the Control Pad is to change your weapons and gadgets. To use your gadgets you press the B Button. Of course the Stick is to move Bond or your character around. X makes you Crouch and Y makes you Jump. Now on to the Driving Controls. Steering is again obvious the Stick, R Button is to use the Gas to drive. L Button is to Brake and Reverse and X Button is to E-Brake. Z Button changes view and C stick down looks back. To Fire the machine gun is the B Button, to select your weapon press Y Button and to Fire selected weapon press the A Button.

1 Player (Select Mission): Basically you go in to Select Mission and choose your stage and difficulty level for the stage. Then you have to go around and do your required Missions set for that stage.

Multiplayer: There are several different Modes in Multiplayer so I will just go through them all.

Combat Training This is just like normal Multiplayer you set your stage and time limit and all that sort of stuff and then you go around trying to get the most kills for your team. Bots can be set in this.

Protect The Flag You have to find the Flag, then hold it which is just not getting killed for the amount of time set, and when you get killed once your time stays there so it just keeps adding up. This is fun with four players.

Golden Gun This is like Combat Training except one shot kills your opponents and yourself.

Anti-Terrorist Training You have to go around and find the bombs in the stage you choose and you have to defuse them.

Top Agent This is where if you become Top Agent everyone else is on to you, if they kill you, they become the Top Agent. And whoever becomes the Top Agent the most throughout the time that is set wins.

List of Guns: Wolfram P2K (Pistol), Windsor Viper (Pistol), IAC Defender (Pistol), Dartgun (Pistol), The Golden Gun (Pistol). There all the Pistols. Koffler & Stock K57 (Submachine Guns), Ingalls Type 20 (Submachine Guns), Calypso P-750 (Submachine Guns) and Munitions Belgique PS100 (Submachine Guns). There all the Submachine Guns. Kazakovich KA-57 (Assault Rifles), Windsor FSU-4 (Assault Rifles), Meyer-Westlicher UGW (Assault Rifles) and Koffler & Stock D17 (Assault Rifles). There all the Assault Rifles. Hand Attack (Single Player [Other]), Frinesi Special 12 (Other) and SWZ SSR4000 (Other).

List of Gadgets: Q-Decryptor, Q-Claw, Q-Laser, Q-Specs, Q-Camera, Q-Remote, Q-Card and Q-Jet. Oh wait, there is more. The Driving Gadgets are Q-Pulse, Q-Vision, Q-Smoke, QW-Slick and Q-Booster.

Lastability: This Game is a bit too easy, there is only like 12 levels which I passed in a week. It would take you about 5 hours maximum to beat all the levels and get gold medals. And once you pass all those in Operative etc you got nothing to do besides play Multiplayer with your friends. Multiplayer is fun, but you can only turn on 2 Bots with 2 people playing which is no good. After a while Multiplayer gets a little bit boring. Overall the replay value of this game is close to the word to describe it as sucks.

Features:

  • It`s James Bond 007.

  • Different Modes in Multiplayer.
  • Heaps of New Gadgets.
  • New Characters for 2 player mode and your allies are new.
  • Get to drive flash BMWs.Final thoughts: This Game is good, not bad or excellent, let down by the replay value of it which is a bit of a shame because it could have been a very nice game. Pay $49.95 or under for this Game and you will get pretty good value, don`t pay over. If you can get it for that price, I do recommend you buy it if you`re really into First Person Shooters.

    Graphics 8.0

    Gameplay 8.0

    Sound 5.0

    Tilt 6.0

    Value 6.0
