No Club Nintendo points coming with New 3DS and New 3DS XL in Australia
In late September Nintendo announced that it was making some big changes to Club Nintendo in Japan. Among those changes was the removal of Club Nintendo points / cards from upcoming hardware.
The New 3DS and New 3DS XL were the first to have this in Japan and Amiibo figures will also not have them. Now it appears the same new strategy will apply here in Australia.
In a marketing newsletter sent out today there’s a couple of lines of small print on the New 3DS and New 3DS XL segment of the newsletter. The text is as follows;
Please note: New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL are not eligible for registration with Club Nintendo and do not include a Club Nintendo Product Identification Number (PIN).
If we are following Japan as this text would suggest it means only games will be able to be registered from now on. This will make nabbing all the gifts in the Star Catalogue just that little bit harder.
Perhaps another reward or reward system will come into place in the future.
I guess I won’t be eligible for a free game this season then if I don’t have a console to register my games with, oh well I guess 🙁
That’s annoying, but they know they can get away with this.
There’s #&@% all in the Australian Club Nintendo anyway, and they allocate so little stock for Australia that I’ve missed out on the gold nunchuk, Super Mario 3D World OST, Kirby Triple Deluxe OST and the biggest killer, the SNES style Classic Controller for Wii. Hell, I would have been more than happy to pay cold hard cash for these items if they bothered to make them available.
maybe this is on the track to having everything linked to our nintendo network IDs?
