Link to the Past or Majora’s Mask remakes to be the next Zelda titles?

Nintendo has been coy on what’s next for the Zelda franchise, we got a taste of what the series might look like on the Wii U in a short video last year and the 3DS got a remake of Ocarina of Time last year. But what’s next?

It looks like Nintendo are looking to remake either one of two classic Zelda titles according to Shigeru Miyamoto who spoke to IGN just after E3. The games that might be tackled shouldn’t come as a surprise, Nintendo has hinted at their intention to remake A Link to the Past and Majora’s Mask before and now it looks like its going to be one or the other.
We haven’t quite decided yet, whether we’re going to do A Link to the Past, because there’s also the possibility of doing a remake of Majora’s Mask. This is something we’ve certainly been talking about and doing a little bit of experimenting with, to figure out which way we’re going to go.
The games might not just be coming to the Nintendo 3DS either, as Miyamoto has said he would like both the Wii U and the 3DS audiences to “perhaps experience both”.
We have so many goals right now. We’re always looking at expanding our audience and giving people the opportunity to get their hands on 3DS and see what kind of fun gaming experiences they can have. And now, we’re also tasked with pushing the Wii U. So we have lots of good opportunities in terms of thinking about which Zelda game is going to be best for which purpose.
So with no more information than that, what would you want to see remade first and for what console? Majora’s Mask on the 3DS could be simple, but how would Link to the Past look in HD on Wii U?!
