Link to the Past follow-up announced for Nintendo 3DS, coming late 2013

Nintendo dropped a huge one last night, a new Zelda title for the Nintendo 3DS set within the same world as Link to the Past.

In Japan, it will be known as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2 but so far Nintendo Europe and America are just calling it The Legend of Zelda.

This is no remake though, the game has entirely new dungeons and a brand new storyline. Link also has some new moves and can become a drawing to move in the walls and around obstacles. The game has a higher camera angle to really make use of the 3DS and it’s three dimensional functionality.

The game will be released around the world in later in 2013.

A trailer and screenshots are available for your viewing pleasure below.

UPDATE: A 3D video has been uploaded to the eShop to give you a feel of how the 3D works in tandem with the gameplay – go check it out!

First a new Yoshi’s Island and then a new Zelda. Wow another awesome Nintendo Direct. Even the Wii U news was good thanks to Earthbound and an earlier than expected release for the New Super Luigi U expansion.
